This year the Waiuku College ACE programme has provided funding to the following Community Groups:

WEST FRANKLIN COMMUNITY MENS SHED

The West Franklin Men's Shed is located at 1381 Waiuku Rd, Pukekoware. The Shed is a not-for-profit initiative designed to promote the health and well-being of men in the community by pro-active mentoring in a non-challenging atmosphere. It was established in February 2008 and is well set up with tools and has the machinery to cover most community projects.

WAIUKU FAMILY SUPPORT

We provide assistance for people in the community including information, face to face counselling, agent for food bank, referral to other services and assistance with childrens clothing and household goods.

FRANKLIN COMMUNITY CHOIR

Coordinator: Jean Holden, ph 238 7957

A choir for men and women aged 16-60+ who are interested in maintaining and improving their singing ability. The group learns new choral music and performs publicly in a concert given at the end of two terms. Meets at Pukekohe High School

FRANKLIN WOODTURNERS CLUB

Contact: Phil Brady, ph. 233 4023

The club consists of a group of people, male and female, young and older, who enjoy working with wood. Cost: $10.00 joining fee, $35.00/year, $15.00 for students. Meets at Franklin Woodturners' Clubrooms, Collingwood Rd

Waiuku College Community Education


 

Welcome to the Adult & Community Education (ACE) programme at Waiuku College.

We aim to provide courses that are affordable, in our local area, and use our school resources after hours.
The non-formal learning environment caters for a wide variety of ages.

Classes on offer in Term 3 include:

  • Quilt Art - The Water Queens
  • Quilt Art - Panel Masterpiece
  • Furniture Repair & Restoration for Women
  • French for Beginners
  • Tai Chi, Yoga
  • Working with Adobe Photoshop
  • Tukutuku
  • Workplace First Aid
  • "Street Talk" Drive Defensively (the last course for this year)
  • IRD Workshops - Going into business & GST, Not for profit and charitable organisations seminar

We are also offering Workplace Communication for students who wish to improve their reading and writing skills.

Funding for our ACE programme is provided by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).
